Overall, its a Good Dishwasher. Love the LED Light. However, I can't get the silverware especially the knives to come 100% clean.

The door latch is terrible, period. We replaced a Kitchenaid compactor from 1996 which worked flawlessly. You stepped on the foot pad and the drawer opened, duh.... You would think this new one would work the same. Nope, you must step on the pedal and pull on the handle. It is very inconvenient when you have something to dispose of in your hands. We had a service call to adjust it but it didn't help. I would not recommend it to anyone.

When we updated our kitchen appliances and bought the black stainless suite, we also needed to replace our trash compactor. Sadly, it didn't come in the same black stainless finish, so we opted for the black finish. It fits in with everything and, unless someone is looking for it, it goes unnoticed that it's not the same finish.
That being said, it's quite an upgrade from our previous compactor that we nicknamed Wall-E (like the Disney movie). It was loud enough to hear from the back yard!
The only complaint I really have about it would be finding the right size bags that are the perfect fit.

We had to replace the Kitchen Aid trash compactor after 18 years of use. We decided to go with Kitchen Aid since we had such success with the previous one. I had it install in an hour. The instructions are easy to follow and I am impressed with the new features. The controls are hidden and there is a very convenient foot control. I think it is quieter than the one we took out.

This KitchenAid compactor replaced another brand that lasted over 20 years. This model seems to be just as well made as the old one. Lifting the door to open the compactor seemed odd at first, but after a month of use it's now second nature. The compactor fits perfectly in the prior kitchen counter opening and was a breeze to install and level. Only had the KitchenAid for a month, but very pleased with how it looks and performs.

Replaced a twenty year old compactor. This one is much quieter. The door seems a bit flappier when opening and closing than my old one. The door is taller by design which may be the reason. Other than that, works great and looks good.

I bought this to replace a previous Kitchen Aid compactor - was disappointed that I couldn't get the same size (18") that I had before! I also don't like having to use my foot to push down to open it! My old one only required me to pull it open!

I have had several KA compactors in the past, but this one has a problem with the latch to release the garbage compartment. It seems that in opening the compactor, the latch constantly hits the side of the compactor frame releasing the the garbage compartment. This makes the handle and the front of the compactor feel very loose and flimsy. I flip the latch back to closed and it stays that way for a couple of times and then opens again. Frustrating.... as the cost of these machines is stiff for a flimsy design. I would appreciate a fix for this problem
